Cliff the coyote captured, taken to undisclosed location
Oct. 5, 2016—When our collared coyote named “Cliff” became irreversibly habituated to people, a difficult decision was made to have him removed by lethal means. But when Cliff’s plight went viral, a “plea bargain” was reached to have his sentence commuted from death to life imprisonment in a local zoo.
When the zoo was determined to be too problematic, the RI Department of Environmental Management took over the case. Cliff was captured and tranquilized and will be transported to a remote area of the state where he will live out his life in the wild and face many challenges.
